Can anyone tell me how to get to Hamden Park from Argyle Street (not far from the station)? Is it within walking distance or do I need to take a train/ bus???
I'm going to a concert- so will there be transport easily available to get back as well?

If there is an event on at Hampden, then the roads will be choked with traffic and some bus routes will be diverted.
You best bet is to walk east along Argyle Street towards the Highlanders Umbrella and go into Glasgow Central Station (High Level). There are trains about every ten minutes during the day to Mount Florida, and, additional trains are often operated to cater for events at Hampden. The train ride is about eight minutes and, normally, it is a five minute walk from the station to Hampden.
You could walk from Argyle Street to Hampden, but allow an hour for it.

Walk along Argyle St to M & S, take a No 75 bus going south, & it takes you to Hampden Park. Any bus from Hampden will take you back to the city centre. It is a fair walk, so I dont recommend it. I am not familiar with train service sorry.

Get the tube train from Glasgow Central station to Mount Florida - normally a fairly frequent service although not sure about later in the evening (as I'm from Edinburgh).
You could walk it in under an hour but not recommended at night.

Either go to the taxi rank around the corner, or walk along to Marks & Spencers, then catch a 75 bus which will take you right outside Hampden. There is a bus stop outside Hampden and pretty much all the buses there go to the City Centre, within walking distance to the station. Enjoy! :)
